The Natural Step for Communities:
How Cities and Towns Can Change to
Sustainable Practices

Are you concerned about the state of
the planet that we are leaving to our
children and grandchildren ? This
eight week reading program will help
you become motivated to take action
towards a sustainable future in your
community. The Natural Step, which
evolved in Sweden, provides a
framework of Sustainability Principles
to help formulate and achieve a future
vision for your community. The
textbook, The Natural Step For
Communities can be purchased at
River run Bookstore in Portsmouth for
$25. Members of this Study Circle can
receive a $5 discount. Please read
pages XI-26 for the first meeting.
Heidi Porter is a naturalized
American citizen, who has studied in
Germany, England and the U.S. She is
a retired area school teacher and has
started a number of Natural Step
Study Circles in the local area.
